Back to Our Roots 🌲⛺
In 2023, Prairie Flower went back to its roots! We loved seeing so many troops tenting in 2022—Prairie Flower started as a 100% tent-camping event, and we’re excited to bring more of that experience back.
Because of this, overnight cabin space will be limited. We have several great tenting areas around camp and encourage troops to try tent camping to expand their outdoor skills and experience.
Yurts and Tamaray cabins will still be available for troops who are new to camping or have special needs. Other cabins will be held in reserve for inclement weather and program use, without disrupting troop spaces.
If your troop needs camping equipment or training, please let Prairie Flower staff know—we’re happy to help!
Camp Location & What to Expect
Camp Lakamaga is located on Big Marine Lake near Scandia, Minnesota. The camp offers a variety of lodging options, and troops will share facilities to allow as many participants as possible.
Be prepared to carry troop and personal gear a short distance from the parking lot to your lodging area.
🚫 Vehicles are not allowed beyond the parking lots—no exceptions.
Lodging Options
When you fill out the Logistics and Program Choice form, you’ll choose one of these overnight options:
-
Yurts / Tamaray cabins
-
Individual troop tenting
-
Space in the Yurts and Tamaray cabins is limited. Troops with special needs will have priority access to these options
-
Lodging assignments will be based on troop size and space availability.
-
You’ll receive your lodging location confirmation in Early May.
Fire Rings & Home Base Areas 🔥
We’ll do our best to place your fire ring and home base area close to your lodging site. However, some areas of camp have limited space (such as the Greenwood yurts).
Because of this:
-
Your cooking and activity area may be a short walk from your lodging
-
You may share space with another troop
Any special arrangements will be clearly noted in your confirmation materials.
