Volunteering at Prairie Flower
Prairie Flower is a 100% volunteer-led encampment, and we’re always excited to welcome new volunteers! You can join us for just Saturday or stay for the entire weekend. We welcome volunteers of all kinds—alumni, parents, family members, older Girl Scouts, and friends.
Volunteer Opportunities
We need helping hands in many areas, including:
-
Friday daytime setup
-
Saturday program support, including outdoor skills, food activities, STEM, team building, and crafts
-
Specialty programs such as Archery, Kayaking, and Low Ropes (certifications required)
-
Kitchen help, including meal prep, serving, and cleanup
We’re always open to new program ideas! If you have a skill or passion you’d love to share and it fits the focus and schedule of Prairie Flower, we’d be thrilled to offer it to our participants.
Benefits of Volunteering
Volunteering at Prairie Flower is both rewarding and fun! While you’re at camp, all meals are provided. You’re welcome to stay overnight in the Troop House or camp out in a tent or hammock.
You’ll also have the chance to:
-
Reconnect with old Girl Scout friends
-
Meet new volunteer friends
-
Share your skills and passions
-
Help inspire a love of camp and the outdoors in the next generation
Troop Volunteers
If you’re attending with a troop and have extra adults, or if your troop consists of older girls who volunteer for at least three program periods (or the equivalent), your camp fee will be waived.
Committee Volunteers
Prairie Flower has been going strong for 46 years, and that takes year-round planning and support. If you’re interested in getting involved at a deeper level, we’d love to have you join the Prairie Flower Committee. Volunteer with us at camp and talk with committee members about how you can help shape the future of Prairie Flower.
